Bocce is an ancient Italian ball sport, similar to lawn bowling. The word “bocce” comes from the Latin word bottia and is the plural form of the Italian word boccia.
Played on a long, flat court using larger rolling balls and a smaller target ball called a “pallino”, the objective is simple: players aim to get their balls as close to the pallino as possible.
Scoring is based on the team with the ball closest to the pallino, earning one point for each ball closer than the opposing team’s closest ball. Games are typically played to 11 or 16 points.”
